Honestly, that's not bad at all. You may want to consider a more efficient power supply. I am not familiar with that brand. The PSU is one thing you do not want to skimp over.

It will not be for the same price. It will be about $20-30 more to get an efficent one. You can use it, but just be wary that it could possible harm your components, especially if you are doing a lot of gaming. However, if gaming is a main concern and you just want to browse, you could downgrade to a i3-6100 and use that savings for a better power supply. Up to you.

The friend I'm building this for wants to get a few years out of it the quad core will last longer than the i3

It will last as long. It's just the i5 is faster than the i3 with the two extra cores. Your parts may not last long with that PSU. Again, this is just a recommendation. You can build it, and if it still works in two years, then thats awesome. Just giving you all of your options. Upfront.
