I am building a new pc soon, Using an older monitor with 1366 x 768 resolution, which I am fine with for gaming, I want this pc to be future proof for this resolution, please tell me if there is anything I should change ^_^
Primary use will be gaming and recording with fraps.

-gtx 660 isnt quite worth it as a 7870

-use a usb wifi adaptor if need be
-how do you not have a monitor power cable with your old monitor?
-id really get a new monitor. its the systems main bottleneck
-no need for case fans
-expensive mouse for not so expensive computer

You could opt for an even cheaper build though, with the FX-8320 matching up to the i5 3470 in many benches, not so hot in others, but in gaming especially. You should save some money but still get similar performance.

You save more money with this build, plus you can still pick up the 7950 if you'd want to push further on the GPU side. Remember with the FX-8320 you can still overclock too and the motherboard allows 8x/8x Crossfire.

Definitely don't get a 660ti. Maybe get a 7850, but I think that might be a little overkill.

GTX 660/GTX 660 Ti < 7870/7950:

The 7870 is almost performing at the GTX 660 Ti's level in average performance @ 1080P, it kills the GTX 660. The 7950 is similar to the 660 Ti's price point and kills it as well.

There's also the build with a 660 ti asus, if you want more fire power, it's granted that will last longer with that resolution at ultra settings.

Performance wise the 660 ti is better than the 7870 and 7950.
The 660 gtx is a bit slower than the 7870 by a really small margin but nvidia has better drivers, more smoothness, better percentile per fps, and exclusive features like txaa, physX, adaptive vsync.

The review was done on stock clocks... I did take that into consideration. You don't have to use my CPU, I'm saying the 7870 is better.

Those hdds are a waste, just get a ssd 120 gb(it will still beat those hdds) and a normal hdd 1TB, the 660 gtx evga is also a good one, though i prefer the asus.
Also you can save a bit with the ram with the patriot ram.
Also no need for a more expensive psu, the xfx 550w is a good one, your system won't pull more than 350w load.

I'm not getting a SSD, I want a drive that will last longer than a year or two, I chose two of those HDDs to put in RAID0, as they are pretty cheap and 10k rpm, I like the ram I chose, not much more than the patriot and fits the color of all the other parts I've chosen, I went with the PSU as it is gold rated, I don't want to cheap out on a PSU.
Also, I will be buying an external hard drive eventually to hold all of my recorded stuff with fraps, I don't use a whole lot of space, I usually just have a couple of games on my computer, and generally delete what I don't use.

Ok, the ssd samsung 830 is more reliable than that hdd or any and faster, but it's your choice,the ram both are good ones, no difference performance so i suggested the lower price one, the psu XFX 550w is not a cheapout, it's a really a good one, it's made by seasonic and better than the brand of the psu you chose.

The psu I chose is gold rated and partially modular, for 10 dollars more than the xfx one, I would consider a SSD, but I don't see how a 120gb SSD + a 1tb hard drive would be cheaper than those two velociraptors, I know of course the SSD would be faster, But I'm looking for reliability, Mechanical Hard drives simply last longer than SSD at the moment.

If you take my advice for the psu, which is a good one the xfx 550w, and the ram, you have space for a 128GB SSD Samsung 830 and a 1.5 TB 7200rpm, it's pointless to get that type of hdd nowadays, and still cheaper with the asus 660 gtx which is the best 660 gtx on the market.

Unless you're gonna store really value important data on the raptor for years to come(speculating), i don't see another reason, for the ssd i suggest the samsung 830 or crucial m4, if the samsung 830 is out of stock get the crucial m4, it's better than the samsung 840.
There's not much to be done, it's your preferences, if you don't want to change any components except the hdd or ssd, the price cuts have to be done there.
Either the cheapest way(ony one raptor) or with ssd.

i dont know why you wouldnt overclock. its free performance without doing any harm to the card

10k drives are useless. dont think about using them unless you are doing a ultimate build

gold rated doesnt mean anything. the unit you chose is good, but a cheaper seasonic 80+ bronze is just as good
