Is This Build OK?

HI,

This will be my first build, I have no idea what I'm doing so I looked for a build on YouTube then made some tweaks to it. I'm not sure I need a dedicated GPU as I'm not a gamer, but I will be using the system for online poker and streaming online poker on Twitch. The poker itself doesn't really require much but I have a huge database of hands and something called a HUD which tracks stats in real time (totally legal btw) and can cause lag with weaker systems. I basically want something that'll be pretty much flawlessly smooth whilst playing and streaming. So I ditched the GPU, added a better CPU, and a cooler, and bumped up the RAM to 16GB. Everything else remains the same from the YouTube build.

Can anyone with better knowledge than me see any problems with this build. I don't really know much about motherboards and wondered if what I have is suitable. Or if the PSU is sufficient. Also, would an SSD be worth it?

The motherboard you picked won’t allow the main benefit of a ‘k’ cpu which is overclocking, you need a Z270 motherboard for that.

Personally I’d go i5 8600k and Z370 as it’s slightly faster and is newer than the 7700k. It also gives you the option of dropping in a 8700/8700k later, the 7700k has no upgrade path.

If you don’t plan on overclocking then a i5 8400 and cheap motherboard would be fine.

also make sure you have extremely good isp speed. with high up/down speed a fast cpu would be pointless for streaming a online poker game. you could get away with a i3 with high mhz.

Thanks. I've revised the build based on your advice. I don't plan to overclock so the 8400 seems like a good bet. Dropped the cooler as it comes with stock.I wasn't quite sure what you meant when you said "cheap motherboard" but I think I'm right in saying I need a Z motherboard to run the i5-8400? If the one I've chosen isn't necessary, could you recommend one to go with this build?

Actually as you are not overclocking you can look at cheaper B360, H310 or H370 motherboards. However just realised you can drop your RAM to 2666mhz as 3200mhz is only supported by 'k' cpu's running on Z370 motherboards.

I picked a different motherboard. It's still a Z370 but it's a lot cheaper than the other one (I have no idea why). Do you think I can find one cheaper? There are so many, I'm having a hard time choosing.

OK, I think I've finalised my build. One thing I forgot about is support for a dual monitor setup, will I need a graphics card for that or is what I have OK?
