Question Is this buzzing noise from laptop GPU normal?

I experience this buzzing sound from my GPU on Asus ROG STRIX G15, but is it normal or RMA? I just bought it yesterday and the noise has been there from the beginning.
I have tried running the GPU fan without the CPU fan and therefore know that it's the GPU.

It is especially noticeable in the end of the video when the fan stops.

Welcome to the forums! I don't hear any 'buzzing'. Just a fan revving up and down, a few mouse clicks and a somebody working on something in the kitchen?

Hi there, thanks and thanks for replying. It might be perfectly normal, but the sound of the GPU fan is just very different from the CPU fan which is much more smooth.

I forgot to mention that the noise stops once giving the laptop a 1mm nudge from the table and upwards.

It doesn't sound as smooth as the laptops that I'm used to (Lenovo and MSI), but I don't know if this is normal for the G15. However does sound slightly odd that it would change by lifting the laptop up. Almost makes it sounds like it's catching on the metal casing around the fan.

That might mean the air intakes are somehow blocked when it's resting on the table and moving it upwards lets some more air in and the fans rev down. Maybe the air vents/intakes are somehow blocked by dust and such inside?

No, I don't think it's a blocked air intake. It's instantly changing sound when I lift it as much as 0,5 mm, like the weight is being taken off the bottom of the laptop.

The entire time the fan is running it's making this sound. I can see that it's mostly running at around 2400 RPM.

In that case might not be a bad idea to have it looked at by the Asus people? Fan bearing out of whack or maybe it's slightly hitting something inside while revolving?

Honestly I can't hear it just the normal fan revving up and down and the air flow a bit.

I have seem some reported issues with bearings going in the Asus G14, though that was after use.

It might not be a bad idea to start a thread with Asus G15 in the title, maybe it would attract more G15 owners.

For everyone's information, I shipped it with an RMA case to ASUS, and they replaced the GPU and CPU fans - now I have no fan noise at all: much more smooth.
