Hello there. I am looking into buying a new video card. At the moment I have my eyes set on the 9800 GT.

I've read through the requirments for this card and I THINK I meet all of them but I don't know too much about all this technical stuff so I am hoping somebody here can help me out. Below is the specs of my motherboard. As far as I can tell this card is compatable but you guys would know better than me.

Since you guys are way more knowledgeable than me about this stuff, I hope you don't mind if I throw a few more questions at you. The main game I will be playing on my computer would be COD5 and possibily the 6th when it is released. I know this new video card is able to play these games with ease but I'm just curious if the rest of my computer meets the requirments. Below is some info on my computer with respect to gaming. Basically, I am hoping you guys can give me an idea on how well these games will run with what I have. Thanks a lot for all your help.

Currently I have,
-2 processors running - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+

-2.21 GHz Performance Rated at 6.30 GHz

-2 Gb of RAM

-Windows Vista Home Basic

-9800 GT Video Card

-256 GB hard drive

Hopefully this info is helpful. Once again, thanks a lot for any assistance given 😀

I'm not a pro like these guys here, but I do know enough to tell you that the gfx card is compatible with your motherboard and you just got to make sure your case is big enough and that the PCI-Express slot is taken over.

Hello there. Thank you for your help and I can assist you a little bit more. Currently I only have a 300W power supply; however, I am buying a 500W power supply in a few days. I know my current 300W is not sufficent to run this new card so im upgrading to a 500W soon. Also, I am probably not going to buy it off of futureshop, I just put that link there because it provides all the features of the video card. Thanks a lot for all your assistance 😀

yeah that's something else I am slightly concerned about. I've seen the card and it seems pretty dang big lol. I really hope it fits in my computer lol...that would suck if it didn't. I'll have to make some measurments I guess.

Hello, Witty_02!
Yes, the card fits the motherboard as for the case, it looks like a fairly standard mid tower, so it should fit there as well.
As for the powersupply: Corsair, Antec, Pc Power and Cooling and OCZ are amongst the best; If you buy from these makers look for 400-450 watts, obviously if you can get a 500w supply for the same $ as a 400 then the choice is obvious.
DO NOT buy a cheap unit, they are cheap for a reason! (unless it's on special offer😉)
Expect to pay no more that $60. For example:
