Is this card good for my build

I'm thinking about the RX 470
I saw the 480 but it's a lot more and for only a tad bit more performance from what I have seen. Also what's a good brand.

a 470 will not really get you any more than your current 970. you are better off overclocking your 970. that card you have runs cool, and you have ample power to do so.

Also the FX6300 may already being holding you back in some games, without a CPU upgrade at the same time you will likely see little benefit from any gpu upgrade

with a decent cooler you can overclock you CPU slightly. get it to around 4.2 GHz minding VRM and CPU temps and you'll be fine.

Sorry I did miss read it. Then yeah, the 470 is about the highest I would go paired with a 6300

yeah that motherboard will allow some OC. a 970 will max just about everything at 1080 so it is hard to not be happy getting that card especially with its new low prices.
