Is this Compatiable? DVDRom drive vs motherboard

Can someone tell me if

IPSG LG 24X DVDRW SATA OEM

and
ASROCK FM2a75M PRO4+ Motherboard

are they Compatible? I got to my BIO's in the system browser and was running mouse over everything and everything said supported then I rolled off the SATA port I got DVD Drive pluged into and it says S.M.A.R.T: Not Supported? so do I need new one or? Thanks in advance for help!

Yes they are both SATA.

The should be compatible , SMART is for Hard drives , it's not for optical drives.

The SATA cable to the board can only go in one way.

It's just saying that because it's an optical drive.

Is the drive working?

well see I cant say yes or no at the time because I think am having hard drive problems or something I guess it works but im getting black screen with white cursor in top left hand corner
