Motherboard will need a bios update most likely. I'd suggest getting a z97 motherboard.

I don't see why get a 500Gb ssd on top of the 120gb ssd and 1TB HDD....

Those are my complaints.

I'm upgrading, so I have all the parts besides the cpu, cooler, mobo, and case

If that's the case, then just the motherboard. Z97 will avoid a potential bios update.

How hard is it to update, the Z97 is hella more expensive.

you'd need to have a cpu that you could use to update the bios.

Other than that, just make sure you have a stable power supply and what not and you should be fine. It's not a hard process, just need the hardware for it.
