Is this compatible

I am a bit confused by processor sockets and motherboards and so on,

I want to upgrade my processor but i dont know if the one i want is compatible with my motherboard.

The i7 6700K Skylake has a LGA-1151 socket but my motherboard socket is LGA-1150, are they still compatible or will i need a new motherboard?
