I have an SSD as a boot drive on a laptop that used to take 1:46 to boot. With the SSD it boots fully in about 0:32. It's absolutely phenomenal! You may want to upgrade later on for about £60 for a Crucial MX100. It does marginally improve your FPS due to resources loading faster but it's nothing to write home about - maybe an extra 4 frames a second on Far Cry 4 and hitman absolution.

You'll only need more then 8gb of ram if you are intent on using after effects or autoCAD. The cable is only needed if you need to transfer the files between your HDD and SSD - you can just use a clean install and avoid buying the cable if you want.

No difference really you would need the cable to transfer windows from the hdd to your ssd unless you have a copy of windows lying around or the laptop comes with a copy. They usually just come with windows already installed on them though.

No, sorry for the lack of clarity - After effects needs lots of RAM when rendering if you are doing things like 3d modelling and complex graphics. It will run Ok with 4gb of RAM but more is always preferred, 8gb should be fine for most people and unless you are multitasking with over 15 windows you should be Ok. All pieces of software run better with more ram but it doesn't matter if you have 8gb - it'll still run ok as you are unlikely to be using complex projects in things like speedgrade or after effects or premiere.
