Is this CPU bottleneck for GPU or what is it ?

Hi guys ,

I have gtx 1080 asus strix and i just installed arma 3 and i put everything at ultra and i get only 40-45 fps in 1080p . Then i lowered the settings at very high and i get about 55 fps with drops to 40 sometimes.V-sync is OFF .
I activated MSI afterburner overlay and i get this :
GPU utilization 26-40%
GPU clock : 1200-1300 mhz sometimes going up to 1600 mhz
GPU temp : 46-55 degree Celcius.

CPU utilization : 37%-41%
CPU temp : 50-61 degree celsius.
RAM : 5.7 GB ( a total of 71% )

My pc Specs :
intel i7-2700k 3.5 Ghz - 3.9 Ghz in turbo
8 Gb ram
gtx 1080 asus ROG strix

Is the Cpu bottlenecking the video card ? but if so why is the cpu so underutilized ? i never seen it go above 40% .
i can play witcher 3 without problems with everything at ultra. In witcher 3 the GPu boosts up to 1900 mhz without overclock.

EDIT : i tried to play with all settings at low , and i get 60-68 fps . I get it , my CPU is quite old , but i refuse to think that it's this bad ......

Arma 3 is a pretty tough game to run well, as I said in the first reply, your FPS seems normal for your bit older CPU. I bet with a latest i5 6600 or a i7 at higher speeds you will see another 5-10 FPS.

That is not an indication that your game can be running faster.

Look at the listings here for CPU usage, the lower one is where the CPU is not bottlenecking the video card, almost all games are about 50% CPU usage and high GPU usage.

You can check things pretty easily, you have a K CPU, run several benchmark tests with a reboot after each one, note exact frames you get, average them out. Overclock the CPU, run the same test amounts, see if your frames go up after several tests when you average the results with overclock and stock.

* If the CPU load is below 70 percent most of the time, any video card upgrade will likely not be bottlenecked. this is what says in that post more or less .

Anyways , my cpu reaches from 70% to 90-95% utilization in Witcher3 Blood and Wine ( i play it with everything at ultra and i get like 85-100+ fps ) , so why does not do this in arma 3 ? I read on the net that arma 2 and arma 3 has this problems by coding , so i guess that might be it , since the game is on very low FPS even with every setting at low .
