You can upgrade to an i7 7700k. Still a great CPU for gaming and will be for the foreseeable future.

It all depends on your budget. Price up a new i7 8700k and motherboard and compare it to the price of an i7 7700k and see if the price difference is worth it to you.

Odds are you probably have a fairly recent motherboard that really isn't missing anything that's going to change your PC experience at all.

If you mainly use your PC for gaming check out Tom's Hardware review on i7 8700k. You'll see in the gaming charts that the i7 7700k is within 1-5 fps in games vs the 8700k
