Is upgrading an i5-2400 to an i5-6500 worth it?
I am thinking of upgrading my Win 10 pc from an i5 2400 to an i5-6500. Will there be much of noticeable performance difference?

Your current motherboard is a 1155
Cheapest and speed you up with little out of packet than on the side plan for a up to date newer system. I have a few i7 2600 and still do a good job playing even newer games to a point if your on a budget.
It all depends on what you are looking for out of your CPU.

@Bernie_Mooney What are you looking to gain?

I would lean towards saying no. See -> https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-6500-vs-Intel-Core-i5-2400/3513vs803

Both can run Windows 10. Neither can run Windows 11. I would hold out for something newer.

I would not advice userbenchmark. If you want to compare CPU performance, see passmark. Thats more reliable.

I would suggest a ryzen 4500 or 5500 in a B550 mobo if you are tight on cash. You can later upgrade to 5800X3D.

If you got a bit more cash, get i5 12400 in a B660 mobo. you can upgrade to 14700 later.

Maybe for those that don't look at Userbenchmark correctly, sure. They tend to put some skewed number up top that doesn't reflect proper difference. It is misleading. However, it does show the core speed comparisons that I see to be somewhat accurate, and it's an easy comparison tool that shows up in the first search engine result. Thanks for the heads up though!
