[SOLVED] Is this damaging?

In my cooler master q300l I have an rx580 that sits pretty much right on top of the psu which takes air from the inside of the case and not the outside, under heavy load is the hot air from the gpu impacting the longevity of the psu in any significant way possibly? After running a heavy load I touched the psu and it did seem warm to the touch. I would face it down but the legs on the q300l are pretty small so I'm not sure what the effects of that would be.

I doubt it. Electrical components can generally get a lot hotter than "warm to the touch" before they start to fail.

Also, there may be some sort of thermal trip circuit that protects the PSU.....depending on the PSU.

The psu is an evga b1 500w

That unit has over temperature protection....but in this case....I don't think you will ever use it. I think most likely you don't have a problem.

That case allows you to mount the PSU with the fan pointing down.

Thanks for the help, the power supply now takes air from outside of the case.
