While it looks plausible overall, what drew my caution was the link, which instead to the concerned thread directs to the login page, all while I'm already logged in (quite expected, to be able to open a PM on this website). When I clicked it another tabs opens: https://snag.gy/yFsBRA.jpg
In the original one I was still logged in during all the time.

Is the author of the message trusted or is it possible it's someone trying to steal my login credentials baiting me to an URL hack..?

That's just a generic reply sent out since you didn't have any replies to your thread. It's automated and not a person but it's legit.

Edit: The reason for the log in prompt is that it's opening the .com site while you're likely logged into the .co.uk mirror. They are mirrors but the log ins are separate.
