GPU : GTX 980 (stock) (I tried ocing it to 1512mhz clock but games were crashing)

CPU : i5 4670k @ 4.4ghz

RAM : 16gb kingston hyper x beast 2133mhz

1080p display 144hz.

FPS is always 60. It never drops not even when running in the rain.

Everything is on ultra and highest settings possible.

Thanks.

VSYNC and screen tearing...

As mentioned VSYNC is to eliminate screen tearing however the severity of screen tearing can vary quite a bit between systems, a particular game and even vary within the same game since it's tied to frame rate.

For example, if you get roughly 60FPS average you might update near the top or bottom of the screen so don't observe much tearing but on the other hand you might update right in the middle of the screen which is very obvious.

If you get about 120FPS then you update twice per screen refresh which is even worse. It won't stay in a particular spot though since your frame rate is never exactly the same with VSYNC OFF.

*In general, if screen tearing isn't obvious or doesn't bother you it's worth...

Yes it's fine. By always at 60fps do you mean literally always at 60fps or an average of 60fps? There's a big difference. Not much use having a 144hz monitor if you're locking to 60fps with vsync.

60 fps always when vsync is on. When i turn it off i get 80-100 fps. Good ?

Yes, that's great. You should leave vsync off while gaming on your monitor. This feature is for 60hz monitors that show screen tearing when the fps goes above 60, you'll never have that problem because you have 144hz to work with.

When i oc my GPU i almost have 100fps constant during mordor gameplay. I think im good to go , right ? :)

*In general, if screen tearing isn't obvious or doesn't bother you it's worth leaving VSYNC OFF since the game can feel less sluggish since the screen responds to your input quicker since it doesn't go through a video buffer first. The quicker the game, the more obvious it is. I'd put SOM as "medium" in this respect. Games like CIV5 should use VSYNC and quick shooters benefit most from the lack of lag which is why pros tend to run 144Hz (144FPS if possible) with VSYNC OFF. Having said that, the lag even with VSYNC ON is pretty minimal at 144FPS.

Summary:
*Just try with VSYNC ON and VSYNC OFF. It should be obvious which you prefer.

(I should add that fan noise will be reduced with VSYNC ON when you can output well above the target)
