CPU: i5 4690k
RAM: 16GB
GPU: GTX 750 ti
HDD: 1 TB
PSU: 430 Watt

At 1600 x 900 at medium to high settings

Games like, Battlefield Hardline, GTA V, Battlefield 5 (When it comes out), Tomb Raider, Hitman 2016, etc..

Should I upgrade to a 970 in the near future or wait until the 1080 and 1070 releases and which one of those would you suggest? And of course, I would upgrade my PSU to a 500-600 watt when I make my decision. So what do you guys think of my current setup and what should I do for my GPU later on.

Yes, your gaming setup will be good for the next 6-12 months. In fact, probably every game will be playable, just accept the fact that sometimes you need to reduce the screen resolution, graphics details or both. I have a similar setup to yours and I do not worry at all.
Without knowing what resolution you are gaming at, how many monitors, or what type of games (CPU or GPU intensive) it is really hard to say. A safe statement might be that the i5 will serve you well on the CPU side, but the GTX 750ti will have you running with reduced settings in some games. Not unplayable, but not high detail...

In VR only...

/still annoyed at the BS 3x performance for 50% of the power claims that were around for the 1080...

Sorry but you're wrong. Has nothing to do with VR. This was 3DMark.

Link please? I haven't seen a test yet and given the less-than-massive jump the 1080 has on the Titan X outside VR, I wouldn't say there is room for a 1070 to fit between them.

I stand (well, sit) corrected - if those figures are real and translate to real fps, not too shabby. My enthusiasm for Pascal has been cautiously restored. Thanks for the link :)
