Is this going to work

I have one cable modem connected to a routerA. (that is one room) Then I connect a 50 feet ethernet cable to one of the 4 wired slots in routerA and connect the other end of that cable to routerB in the living room. Will this set up work? The routers are just general home routers. I might buy a heavy duty router for routerA, that will be my main router.
My main goal is to extend my wifi connection.

Yes but it is best to change router B to be a AP if it has that option or connect to the LAN port and disable the DHCP.
