Hello,

So I was watching a video and my display suddenly shut down and monitor said no signal. So i rebooted my PC only this time there was no display at all and my gtx 760 kept making a loud noise as if it's fan is spinning on full.

Does this mean the GPU is dead?

My monitor is fine because i hooked it up on my laptop and it is working. Also i am 100% sure the noise is from the GPU fan because when the PC is on I can feel the air being sucked in very fast and pushed out of the GPU.

Any suggestions? replacement?

The card may have moved due to "thermal cycling" of the PCIe slot contacts and card contacts. While system is running, heat causes expansion of contacts, then contacts contract when cooled (after system shut down). This cycling of expansion and contracting may cause the card to work loose over time just a bit so that some of the contacts between the card and PCIe slot are no longer being made?

Depending on which contacts are no longer being made, this will determine what "issues" may occur with the video card, possibly including fan high speed, and loss of video signal.

so I just opened the box, took gpu out and put it back in and works...

any idea what caused the fan to go 100% and not display anything on the monitor? I mean sure I understand your suggestion about it being seated properly but how was it moved in the first place?
