Is this graphics card upgrade worth it?

For Christmas, I was thinking about upgrading my Asus 7770 HD to a Gigabyte or Asus R9 280. With my Athlon X4 760k, would it better to upgrade it to the R9 280 or the R9 280x.

280X is better, or course. As long as you overclock that processor it shouldn't be a bottleneck.
