[SOLVED] Is this hard drive noise normal?

Solution
Some drives are different when it comes to sound.
You can use a SMART test tool.
For Linux use Smartctl or Gnome Disks.
For Windows use Crustal disk info.
Hard drive has moving parts so it might be normal.
The smart tool with tell you if there is a problem.
But as always even if its say in good shape still backup.
If you are very worried just backup and get a new drive.

From us out here, there are a few possible responses to this:
  1. It is fine, that drive will last for years. All drives make noises.
  2. hmm...kinda bad, but nothing critical.
  3. It is going to die tomorrow.
Given each of those, would there be any different function for you to do?
But if you always backup then you got nothing to worry about. So backup. Problem solved.
