Is this laptop with 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-4200U processor good for gaming?

I found this Lenovo at Best Buy.

here are the specs:

System Memory (RAM) 6GB

Type of Memory (RAM) DDR3

Computer Hard Drive Size 1TB

Operating System Windows 8

Graphics Card Intel® HD Graphics 4400


My current laptop sucks for gaming. it can't handle anything. I mean it shuts down if i have too many things tabs up or too many programs running, so I need a new laptop.

So I really wanna know if this laptop that I am planning on getting

I wanna know if it will be able to handle the Sims 3 and having like 12 GB of mods or something around there. Please, any feedback is greatly appreciated.


Oh also, if you guys have any other options/suggestions for a replacement for this laptop (if this lenovo is not good enough to play the Sims 3 on), I would be happy to check them out! Thanks again! 😀

dude..this laptop is not an actual gaming system(particularly heavy gaming)..so dont hope anything big out of this.. however looking at the system req for sim 3..it will run the game easily ... (the CPU is good..but the GPU is not that powerfull..basically on board graphics do not give very good gaming performance).. you will play the games custom settings... with good FPS... but it wont play heavy games like BF3 and stuff..
it should be fine for sim 3 and mods..but not for heavy gaming..

I understand, and that is fine. As long as it can run the Sims 3 w/out problems, I'm happy. Ik it's not a serious gaming computer like Alienware laptops, which are way too expensive, but it's all I can afford right now.

I understand, and that is fine. As long as it can run the Sims 3 w/out problems, I'm happy. Ik it's not a serious gaming computer like Alienware laptops, which are way too expensive, but it's all I can afford right now.

What is your budget for a new laptop? Honestly, for any kind of games, I would want a dedicated GPU that has its own dedicated memory. IGP steals system memory to function.

These are the best I could find, so far, with a dedicated card and in your price range. The selection of laptops with dedicated GPU's is kinda poor lately. Fortunately my Sandy Bridge i5 equipped Asus is still sufficient for my needs.

I'm leaning more towards the hp probook, but the toshiba seems promising as well.

is the AMD Radeon HD 7650M better than the NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M? or are they equally matched?

740m is significantly faster, especially if its a model with a 128 bit bus.
