https://www.ebay.com/itm/Gigabyte-AM3-AMD-970-SATA-6Gbps-USB-3-0-ATX-DDR3-1800-AMD-Motherboard-/222244324155?hash=item33becb433b:g:aG8AAOSwxg5X0j9f

That guy is charging three hundred sixty bucks for a stinking MOTHERBOARD!

This model came out in 2002! I know this because the earliest BIOS I'm able to download for this board are dated accordingly: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-970A-UD3P-rev-2x#support-dl

I can find a Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P (without the U) - a board which is only a very slight downgrade from this board - for less than a fifth that price! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Gigabyte-GA-970A-D3P-rev-2-0-AM3-AMD-970-SB950-Chipset-ATX-Motherboard/282697213497?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Hell, I can even find an ENTIRE BAREBONES PC with this motherboard in it, complete with a thumping good processor to boot, for less than what this guy wants just for the motherboard alone: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Barebones-PC-MM2-79-451-AMD-FX-8350-4-0GHz-GIGABYTE-GA-970A-UD3P-/401420424291?hash=item5d76859463:g:cF8AAOSw7RdZ20-4

So what do you guys think? Is this guy a crackpot or what?

My thought would be to put in a bid that you believe is reasonable.....

Is there a "Contact Seller" option? Ask about the price, condition, etc.. as has been posted.

The response (or lack thereof) may be revealing.

Nothing to lose by asking and again, as has been pointed out, you have the choice to buy or not.

He is free to ask whatever price he wants. And we are free to pass it by.

But, the difference is:

"Item condition: Used"
“Used, CPU plastic missing piece. Warranty 60-Days”

and

"Item condition: New"

Also:
"Last updated on Jul 20, 2017 03:46:37 PDT View all revisions"
So it's been up for sale for 3 months.

Of course he can. You don't see me suing him for charging more than the legally-allotted maximum price, do you?

But does he honestly expect someone to pay that kind of money?

The point is, his asking price is too high.
Generally, when you put something up for sale or auction...you want to actually "sell it". Not mess around with listing it forever.

He's got a feedback score of 2,656, with 99.8% positive feedback.

So clearly, he's been on Ebay for a while.
