Ive been looking around for a good new monitor and saw this alienware on sale for only $310. I think its only 1080p which is unfortunate however it is 240hz. My current monitor is 1080p 60hz and is very meh at best.

Im later (in the near future) planning on getting a 1080ti or 1080 so im not sure if I should pick up this monitor or get something else. My budget for a monitor is $500 or less.

Also as a side question, I havent played games in a long while and was looking at Conan exiles and far cry 5, are either of these worth picking up? I like single player story games, especially like witcher 3 which was one of my favorites of all time. Thanks

Refresh rate really depends on the games you play, if your into more single player games I'd get a higher resolution/lower FPS, maybe IPS for that budget.

I know some are against 21:9 ultrawides as there are a few popular games that don't support the 21:9 (overwatch) ratio but for your budget I think this gives you the best of both worlds as far as eye candy and still having a higher refresh rate for smooth gameplay.

I haven't played Conan or FC5 but I will say that FC4 & the Witcher 3 look awesome on a ultrawide.

Lots of people still use 1080p because those monitors are more affordable and of course, do not require as powerful a system(which also means crankin' up the video settings to "high/ultra" and still have smooth gameplay).

If you are going to go with the 1080 Ti(or end of waiting for one of the new GPU's), you're most likely going to want to do 1440p or even 2160p gaming.

I've played through Far Cry 5 on my primary gaming laptop(in my sig). Used the thunderbolt output on it to go to a 43" 4k display. The game looked fantastic btw.
