I have a i3-550 processor and 6 gigs of ram,motherboard(Manufacturer=Dell Inc. , Model=0C2KJT).I wanted to know whether this motherboard can handle a GTX 1050 Gigabyte G1 Gaming 2GB

10 series gpus are running on older LGA775 motherboards (older than your platform) but being a pre-built pc there's a 50/50 chance of success. Bios of these pre-built motherboards are quite limited.

Nvidia are more forgiving on older platforms, id say chance it with a your original plan.
