It will work but the 965 is outdated. The upgrade plan is basically it. FX will not be a big boost when you feel its time for processor upgrade which may be sooner than later for the 965.

What about i3 & an H61 or better still a z68/77? You at least get an upgrade path to i5 when you feel the need for a boost.
