The WD40EZAZ HDD I just bought makes strange noises, is it defective?

I tried at least 4 different power supplies of different types, it just makes those noises randomly...

WD Diagnostic tool says it's perfect, but it's still making those noises ?

I don't know anything about noises.
How do you have this connected that it shows as sata1?

Those noises are coming up every once in a while from that drive, no matter what power supply I'm using.

I've tried a few different 450w-550w desktop power supplies, an adapter power supply, and this board which is from an external Seagate HDD, using a dedicated power adapter. The noises are random but happen with any of those 5 different supplies.

But if I scan the entire HD using WD tools, it says its condition is perfect :/ also see Crystal Info's report. Does it say anything?

Connect drive to your pc with sata data and sata power cables.
Do not use any usb/sata adapters.

Your power supplies (3 different, shown in photos) are all crap. Ci-Power is least crap. Rest of them - absolute garbage/fire hazard.

What computer are you powering with these? List full specs of your pc.

ok thanks, crap as they may be, with only one drive connected, shouldn't they be good to drive this 4TB HDD?

Is there anything special in this model (WD04EZAZ) that it requires a special PS to work properly? and if so what PS does it need?

I thought if any of these PS can provide many Ampers on each rail, then driving a single HD should never be a problem?

My system is an old Intel DP35DP mobo, with a Core2Quad Q9650 CPU and Radeon HD5450 display card...

Can you show, how the drive is connected to your pc?

Your PSU probably doesn't have sata power connector. You'll need molex to sata adapter.
Do not use external power block to power your hdd.
