Recently bought a used pc and
during shipping it wasnt package properly and ended up damaging some parts to the motherboard and the gpu

i cleaned it up with a white eraser. Wondering if its safe to use any help would be appreciated

It looks like the smaller capacitor (5KA07) has been bashed sideways. Not good. As for the damage to the card and the slot, it might still work. The only way to find out is to switch on and wait for fizzing sounds, "magic smoke" or a blank screen.

I'd be inclined to claim on any insurance that might be forthcoming from the shipping agents, but the real blame lies with the seller who failed to take "sensible" precautions by unplugging the GPU from the mobo. Ditto with any large air coolers. It's just asking for trouble with all that mass.

Only an idiot entrusts a system with a heavy GPU card to the rigours of a shipping agent without taking precautions. I had serious damage to an empty computer case when someone dropped the cardboard box 4ft off the tailgate of a truck (at least that's my explanation). I got a complete refund from eBay.

I would file an insurance and/or return claim on that. There is no excuse for the seller not to prepare and pack this properly. If one decides to ship a whole PC without taking out the graphics card, at the very least they should have used that expanding foam packing stuff inside.

I feel like the card will probably work (if return isn't an option) but I would not trust that motherboard with the slot pulled away like that.

I actually went to a repair shop today and they managed to get it open, got the ok for everything and they told me that everything is functioning and working, I didnt get to ask them if that part is gonna be a problem long term.

Despite this what do you think i should do? Buy a new motherboard? For now im still waiting on the dispute and see if ill get a refund or to just handle this between me and the seller (He was offering 100€ for damage repairs and such. I declined and ask for more because i was pc that was in perfect condition)
