As the title says, I've been looking at buying a new PC. Well, long story short, I've found one I'm considering, and was wondering if I'm getting a good deal.

I want a pc to play games like Skyrim with max settings, and probably some World of Warcraft/other random games.

So would this PC be able to run the games I want, and is it a good deal at $1000?

Thanks so much for the replies! I asked the guy about it, and he seemed like he was talking it up a bit... he said it wouldn't need upgrades for 5+ years and whatnot. It sounded a little too good so I thought I'd ask! Thanks again for the advice, this community is awesome!

With that said, I've been looking into building a PC, but I'm really intimidated as I've never done it before. So would building my own be my best bet? I'm not even sure where I'd start with building my own...

The FX-8350 I have myself, however purchased and installed quite a while ago. I can still run the latest games no problem with my MSI R9 280x. However, the FX series of CPU's are pretty old hardware, but good for budget builds.

However, I would either go down the Intel route (Better upgrade-ability) or wait for the new AMD Ryzen series of CPU's (AM4 socket) coming really soon !!

Thank you! What a cool website. And yes, I'm from the US.

Well, after reading some more, and looking at other PCs, I think it'd be best to just build my own. I think I'd get a better PC that way, at least money wise.

My budget is $1200, but I need everything. Do you guys have any other suggestions? Like maybe any supplies/tools I might need? Or any guides to help a newbie out?

Thank you all so much for your help!

With a builds you guys suggested, do I need a cooling unit for those? Is that something only certain computers need? I only ask because I saw a few people list the cooler they were using when I was looking to buy a pre-built PC.

Oh OK. I just wasn't sure, and didn't want to buy everything and end up with a missing piece. Thanks for the quick reply!

Withthat said, is there anything else I would need to assemble the computer? Am I good to just buy the parts and assemble them?

You pretty much just need a phillips head screwdriver as far as tools go. As far as hardware, you'll need a keyboard, mouse, and either a disc drive or USB stick in order to install windows. I prefer the USB method, but you'll need a second working PC somewhere in order to make the UBS stick bootable.

OK, thanks!

I've never heard of the USB method. Would I basically be putting the OS on the USB, and using that to download it to the new PC?

And just to clarify, this PC will run games like skyrim on max settings with mods? Or maybe world of warcraft in a 40 man raid with Skype and music running in the background? Sorry I'm asking so many questions, I'm just really excited about building my first PC, and I want to make sure it's going to do what I need it to.
