Question Is this PC actually good?

So I've been considering buying a new PC for a while now and decided to open PC Specialist and configure something cheap enough that'll work for my needs (school and some light gaming) and I just wanted to make sure that I'm not overdoing or underdoing it. I basically just play Minecraft, Sims, that sort of thing and read that instead of buying a GPU I could just use integrated graphics if I invested that money into a better CPU. I'll also just install windows for free when I get it instead of paying the €100. If you could let me know that'd be great thanks.

Build around a 12400 cpu.
You will get a better igp.
If you get the box version it comes with a cooler.

Psu and ram need work.

Yep, if you want a multipurpose machine without an expensive graphics card, look for something with a Ryzen 7 5700G.

PC Specialist, £500, £600 with VAT. Not the best parts, but not the worst either. Small form factor.

That setup has so many bad things that I don't know where to start.
How much does this pre-built pc cost?
What is your budget?
Are you capable of building one yourself?

I see no sense in buying a 10th gen processor that is overkill for your needs when a 12th gen processor is available.

A 250w psu is terrible, and has no upgrade potential.

I like integrated graphics for a start.
It may suffice, for your apps, and adding a strong graphics card is possible.

My thought would be that a I3-12100 based system would be stronger.
Buy 16gb of ram.

Buy 16gb of ram.

It costs €658 with VAT
I don't really have a set budget, I'm just looking for the cheapest thing that can run what I need preferably under about €750 - 800
Right now I think that getting it pre-built is the best option for me

I'll be honest I don't really know a whole lot about hardware so I don't know what gen I need. I had an i5 selected but it gave me a ton of errors so I switched to an i7, but if it's super overkill I'll totally change it

What PSU should I choose instead?

I genuinely can't find the i3-12100 on the website, only the i3-10100 and the i3-105F

I thought that 8 GB would be enough but you know best lmao

Intel integrated graphics will not cut it - for gaming.
AMD integrated graphics might be enough though.

List your budget.

I don't want to go super overkill with fantastic gaming built CPUs because at the end of the day I'm not gonna be running GTA at max graphics, yknow? The games I play are really un-intensive so I don't wanna go overboard and spend tons on the best AMD CPU and GPU.

I don't really have a budget I'm kinda just weighing up options more than anything, but I'd like to have it under €700 - 750 if at all possible. Basically the cheapest I can get

If your going with intel.
The 10700 comes with a uhd 630 igp.
The 12100/12400 comes with a uhd 730 igp which is a step up.
Neither igp is meant for gaming.

Consider moving to amd.
The 5600g will be much better with gaming.

Is that the Ryzen 5 5600? cos when I select that it tells me that there are no integrated graphics?

The build above is cheaper than what you had selected and includes the Ryzen 5700G.

Ryzen 5700G
2x8GB DDR4 3200
512GB SSD
450W power supply

Head over to the AMD side of the configurator. AMD Small Form Factor Gaming PCs

Change the CPU to 5700G
Change the memory to Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200Mhz 2x8GB
Graphics to Integrated
Unselect the 1st storage option
Change the 1st M.2 SSD drive to 512GB PCS PCIe M.2

And if you wanted to use your own copy of Windows, you can deselect that and the recovery media.

For your maximum budget we can certainly add a lot more. This is a good mix between a workstation (8 CPU cores, like your original 10700 choice) and a decent light gamer. All games should be playable at 720p medium settings, older games at 1080p, and much older games will run fine.

For a Ryzen APU you want fast memory, it is also the video memory. 3200 is a good compromise.

You can certainly opt to go with the 5600G, drops back to six cores and the integrated GPU is slightly slower.

Ryzen APUs are a little more expensive than their Intel counterparts, but that is because they offer a lot more graphics potential. They fill a market niche that Intel hasn't really broken into. A small form factor motherboard is also part of the increased cost. You can build a similar system from the AMD desktop line and see if the price is any lower.

You've left in the 128GB SATA SSD. Rather than a much faster 512GB M.2 SSD in your original build. (about five times faster in read/write) And four times the capacity.

And you still have 2666 Memory, you really want that to be as fast as possible for an iGPU.
