The games I will be playing is almost exclusively Battlefield 4. I would like to run on Ultra if I can achieve frames of over 60 with ease and for a long period of time (2-4 hour gaming sessions), but I will gladly drop a setting or two to run high FPS.

Let me know anything you would recommend to change, and what you think this build is capable of:

You can replace it with the GTX 970 and expect identical performance. Performance will begin to favor on the side of the 390 as the resolutions increase though. (1440p, 4k)
Okay so there are a lot of things I find "wrong with this build" like each part haha.. I can go through each part if you want and why but I think it would be just easier for me to post a build that would be best.

I agree with masterdell that something is wrong with that build. Heres a much more powerful one. Sorry but im not using my pc now so i cant make a diagram:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tmfzTW

I don't mean to sound ridiculing but why do you have a 4690k with a motherboard that can't be used for overclockig? As well as no after market cooler for the 4690k? Also, the ram you used as a CAS of 10 with a speed of only 1866MHz. That will perform worse than a 1600MHz/CAS 9 kit which is pretty well standard. Another think is the CX500 is a horrible PSU.

Like I said, don't mean to ridicule. Just kind of confused

He should get more performance with a better cpu and gpu than ram and mobo. If he finds the needs to oc then he can get a better mobo. As for ram he can also replace it if he wants

right but his budget is really high so he can afford a gtx 970

Well it depends.
As i see. His budget is only 800$ for PC only. Without the OS + Monitor. Keyboard mouse.

I mean. with 1100$ he will need those peripherals. Which mean 970 not a great choice. Cause you need to bring down your CPU.

As i remember, battlefield 4 need greater CPU for getting high FPS. thats why i suggest to get GTX 960. And I5-4690k

well my build has i5 4690k and gtx 970 in the same system. He just cant oc with the mobo i picked, and the ram will be a little slow. Im not trying to determine whos wrong and whose right, i just want him to get the most of he's money

There is literally no point in getting a 4690k. The 4690k is not magically fast because it has a k strapped on the end of it. He would be better off getting an i5-4690 because atleast he would save money and get the same performance. The Xeon-1231 V3 would be a better choice if you want to go that route in terms of budget. Would be running at about the same speed only it has hyperthreading. Essentially an i7 with no iGPU.

And I have a rig that I built for my friend when we do lan parties and it has an i3 and a 265 and we get some pretty good FPS @ High settings. BF4 is an old game so let's not talk about what is necessary because a mid range GPU could max that game out.

I had a 60 Hz monitor which I used for gaming (most of my gaming used to be on BF4) and then when I switched to the ROG Swift wow was there a difference. The 144Hz definitely knocks your socks off when it comes to games where there is a lot of movement which is face paced. Especially when I was flying a helicopter.. That's where I noticed it the most.

Thanks a lot for all the replies guys. I think I'll go for MasterDell's build, but I would really like to use a Nvidia card. I know what everyone might say, but I have a thing for Nvidia. Could I replace the Radeon you have in that build with a Nvidia 970 GTX and expect the same performance?

By the way, my total budget is around 1000$, a little more is ok as long as it's for peripherals. I don't plan on over-clocking either so no worries.
