I am looking to build a $500-$550 computer and came up with this

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4hnj7P

I'm going to be playing and recording games like Modded Minecraft, G-Mod, Modded Skyrim, and some newer games like GTA and possibly No mans Sky. Would this build work for that and is it worth what it costs? Thanks for all the help

Splendid
I'd recommend getting rid of the ssd and putting the money into an 8320 overvtge 6300 it will help your fps in gaming and streaming a lot more. My computer boots in 5 seconds using a HDD so a ssd for boot times isn't needed especially when it hinders other parts like your CPU.

try this. this will do a MUCH better job for what you need

I made the SSD functional sized, swapped the cpu to one that will destroy a fx6300 in skyrim, minecraft, g-mod and GTAV; and upgraded the video card to something NOT overpriced like the 750ti. That 960 is a great deal, almost twice as fast as the 750ti, and will manage most games at high or ultra settings in 1080p.

$551 a lot more potential grunt.
the memory you chose was 2 fast for the motherboard so would likely have cause stability issues.
i replaced it with 2133. also got rid of the ssd. its to small to be of use and the money was better spent on the cpu.
you can always add a 256 gig sometime in the future. anything less and your wasting money... dont worry other than load times you wont notice much difference.

I am a first time builder so not to sound noobish but what part would that be replacin? I know the SSD would be replaced but what part is the 8320 Vtge 6300 be? Thanks

msi have a good track record. coming first and second in the motherboard reliability comparison last year so id say there just as good especially at the lower pricepoint. i know it may not be the best for high overclocking but its perfect for his budget. but yeah another 5 bux and he gets a better quality power delivery from the asus board.
he'll get all the benefits of the 8 core part and none of the issues with setting affinity that currently plague the 6300 cpu's

@op
yes the 8320 is the cpu and replaces the 6300 you picked.

On Intel based systems i'd buy a MSI without hesitation. Not on AMD. There are practical matters to consider, and frankly, MSI uses parts too cheap to handle a 8 core FX... except for maybe one of their high end motherboards. You pair that motherboard with an 8 core FX and the motherboard will overheat at stock settings and throttle the cpu. If you're using a 6 core fx at stock that motherboard is fine. not a good match for an 8 core though. not at all.

As a sidenote, you should know that on modded skyrim, at stock an AMD cpu will be a problem. You'll NEED to overclock that amd cpu up to around 4.4ghz to play fully modded skyrim at a steady 60fps. I suspect there will be a similar issue with GTAV, I know this is also true with g-mod.

Games rarely are multicore, and those games are almost all single or dual cored titles, OP is better off with that dinky little dual core intel for those games.
