Is this PC good value for money and will it last reasonably long?

This is a first build and my other pc has ddr2 ram 🙁 so that won't influence my decision making, but is this pc good value and future proof? If there are any improvements you would make- please say. I am not planning on using it for heavy gaming, perhaps the occasional match of Dota 2 with friends, Portal Stories: Mel, CS:GO etc. I also want to begin app development with Eclipse and Head First Java- on my laptop executing apps was very tedious and slow. I was choosing between this and an i5-4690k, but seeing as I found ddr4 ram for so cheap I thought I would upgrade to Skylake i5-6600k:

Your build seems to be great! Smart choice going for Skylake and the Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler which is legendary. Have one myself and love it. Something I would change is the PSU which just might be enough for a dedicated GPU but in that case low-mid end model. Minimum requirements for an ex. GTX 970 is 500W. You could also find a more reliable PSU than the one you chose, like the EVGA SuperNova G2 550W. It costs more but is extreeeemly quiet and has top-notch reliability. Regarded as one of the best 80+ Gold PSU:s actually.

Awesome- thanks for the quick reply! I've added that SuperNova GPU and seems great value for money- you have also allowed for easier upgrading in the future. I was a few months ago thinking about a 970 actually but decided to be patient after seeing Nvidia's GPU road map- I'm hyped for Pascal 😉 You've been really helpful and I am really excited about my first build!
