I'm building a PC on DinoPC mostly for gaming (at 1440p on Ultra) but I will be doing some other stuff as well. I have got a build together and I would like to know if it is the best it can be. If you have anything to say regarding the case or the cooling or anything please say.

The PC -

CPU Intel® Core™ i7 7700K CPU (OCed to 4.8ghz)

Liquid CPU Cooler Corsair Hydro Series™ H100i v2 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

Warranty 5 Year Bronze Warranty

RAM Corsair Vengeance® LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16

Graphics Card MSI GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G (Free Game)

Motherboard ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero (Socket-1151, 4x DDR4, ATX)

Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit EN (OEM)

Storage Toshiba DT01ACA200 2TB 3.5" SATA III HDD
Samsung 250GB 960 EVO M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD

Case Corsair Crystal 570X RGB (No Optical Drive, ATX)

Power Supply Unit Corsair RMx Series™ Modular RM750x — 750 Watt 80 PLUS® Gold

Mouse Gigabyte XM300 Gaming Mouse FREE
Keyboard Gigabyte Force K83 Mechanical Keyboard FREE
CPU Overclocking 4.8Ghz Overclock Stable on all CPU cores
Turnaround Dispatched within 10 working days

This is it. Should I get extra fans or change or add or do anything or is it fine? Is this overkill for Ultra 1440p gaming?

Any comments or thoughts you have regarding this build please post. :)

Monitor wise I'm torn between the Acer Predator XB271HU and the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q. Which should I get and why?

I think that's it, thanks for the help in advance 😛

Solution

The 165hz is for all. The video says upto 180hz overclocking.

If you want 1440p/144hz/144fps, you won't need to spend that much money on the graphics card. If you want the free Ghost Recon Wildlands/For Honor promotion, you can get a normal GTX 1080.
Also if your spending this much, why not get a decent mouse and keyboard? Judging by the format your configuring some type of pre-built. Those sites might not offer decent peripheral options.
As for the monitor, get the ROG Swift.

But I've heard that the 1080 will sometimes struggle with Ultra on 1440p with some games. I'm not fussed about GR W or For Honour. So everything is fine? I don't need to add more fans or change the storage or PSU or anything? I already have a mouse that I like and I'm thinking of getting the Razer Deathstalker Chroma, is it good?

Why the Swift and not Predator?

You don't really need case fans in the first place, so you are good for those.
Storage is up to you. You get it based on what you use. If it were me, I would get a 1TB Drive but a 500GB SSD
The PSU you chose is high quality and has enough power.
The Deathadder chroma is better than the deathstalker.

The reason I said the swift was because they're both the same but the Asus has a couple more neat features (FPS counter, On-screen crosshair etc)
But after looking at both, I think you should get the ASUS PG278QR. Its the same as the other swift but is has 1ms response time instead of 4.

The Deathadder is a mouse and the Deathstalker is a keyboard...

The Predator also has similar features, as far as I know, but I'm concerned with the Swifts quality control, they seem to have a lot of BLB from Amazon reviews. If it has 1ms then it is most likely a TN display. I want an IPS display. Also, you didn't address my concerns regarding the 1080 struggling to perform well with some games on Ultra at 1440p.

The monitor that I suggested actually is an IPS monitor.

As for the Deathadder mishap, when you said that you had a good mouse and you wanted the deathstalker, I think I read it as you wanted a new mouse which was the deathstalker. Or I'm just losing my edge XD

I just looked it up and no, it is in fact a TN. I don't think it is possible right now to have an IPS at 1ms. Well anyway, disregarding the mouse thing. Is everything in my build good to go?

Ok cool.

In my experience the Amazon Monitor descriptions aren't that accurate and I checked the page and I couldn't see where it said IPS but this IGN review states that it is a TN. Also, I think its common knowledge that as of right now, you can't get a 1ms IPS so that should make you think Hmmm, this might be wrong.

Yeah, that would be cool but we also have to wait for the software to catch up as well. There is no point in having a 4k Monitor if the game or whatever can't be run in 4k.

I'm gonna advise getting the BlackWidow X Chroma, if you're going to get a Razer keyboard. I'm using that one and it's great; mechanical, o'course, but what I really like is how easy it is to keep clean. It doesn't have the plastic shroud like the non-X version, meaning all you have to do to clean it is blast it with canned air and all the dirt and crumbs get blown away.

That sounds good but aren't mechanical keyboards louder and the keys sometimes get messed up and don't work/ break or something. Other than that what do you think about my build for 1440p Ultra gaming and what would be your monitor choice out of the Acer Predator XB271HU and the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q? :) 😛

They're almost identical, actually. The ASUS one is IPS, the Acer one isn't; the ASUS one also has a better viewing angle; the Acer has a better response time than the ASUS. Other than that, they appear to be literally identical.

No, they are both IPS. And I can read the specs I'm asking for peoples opinions to see which one people prefer regarding build quality and quality assurance etc 😛

For build quality, both are great. I currently use an Acer monitor myself and its sturdy and feels nice. I can say the same for Asus as I used to have an Asus VG248QE and it felt the same way. Both are great monitor manufacturers and you would be fine going with either.

Ok but if you had to choose one or the other. Which one would you choose and why?

As I had previously said, I would go with the Asus purely because of the extra features. They are both nearly identical, so it comes down to what they have extra that the other does not. Here are some things the Asus has:
1) Crosshair overlay
2) In-game timer
3) FPS counter
4) Blue light level adjustment (Changes the saturation brightness based on your preference)
5) Game visual (basically makes things brighter)

Everything else that the Acer featured such as G-Sync and sRGB are included with the Asus.

Nowhere does it say 180hz?? Maximum refresh rate overclock on the Acer is 165hz, as well as on the Asus.
And as far as Newegg goes to say, the Asus has a "Slimmer Bezel Design"

I've heard that both the Acer and Asus have the FPS counter and such but it's just more accessible on the Asus. I've also heard that with the Acer the bottom bezel creaks and bends when you push a button. I've also heard that the Acer shook a lot when typing when compared to the Asus on the same desk. Basically, the impression I got from doing a little research is that all round the Asus is better and more premium and the Acer although feeling quite solid actually seems like its had a few corners cut to bring the price down.
