A 6+2 connector is just a 6-pin connector with an extra 2-pin connector that hooks on to make an 8-pin connector if you need one. It works just fine as a 6-pin.
The XFX, as SR-71 said, is the better PSU. While I'd run the B1 EVGA or a Corsair CX in a general use rig as a suitable budget power supply, gaming builds have higher performance parts and it's smart to spend just the little extra to get into the more robust power supplies.
