building a VR PC for my sister, and I found this build that I thought would work perfectly, but I'm unsure if they Ram and MB are compatible?

https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/MNwrxr/modest-intel-gaming-build

The ram is 3000, but the MB only supports up to 2666. Does this mean the ram will slow down to 2666 by themselves?

And while I'm here, is there a MB you'd recommend that supports 3000 or even 3200? I hear 3200 is a good spot to be Ram wise, but I'd like the price to be similar if possible, she's on a budget, but I'd hate to give her less then what I can.

Thank you for any and all help!

With Intel's RAM speed is less important and the performance difference is negligible. Ryzen on the other hand has a pretty large impact. You'll be fine.

One change I would recommend is change the SSD to a Crucial MX500 500GB, its a better SSD.

Also you might want to consider a Ryzen build.

CPU is out of stock but the 85 USD Ryzen 1600AF (YD1600BBAFBOX )is a excellent CPU, essentially a slightly slower Ryzen 2600.

Rest of System, excluding the fore mentioned CPU since its not on PCPartspicker for some reason. Also managed to get you a 500GB PCIe3 Speed M.2

Thank you for the info! :D

I was considering AMD, but I just know way more about Intel, but i suppose it's never bad to try something new. I've heard very good things about AMD cpus lately. Thank you again!

There's no real difference aside from the pins being on the CPU versus in the socket. Same goes after after getting everything up and running, just pop on the Mobos manufacturers download section and grab the drivers for it and you are good to go.
