Is this ram any good, or is it outdated?

I have 2 4GB kits of Corsair Dominator CMP4GX3M2A1600C9 that I originally intended for gaming, but as my build is getting closer to completion and looking at the release date for this particular ram, I've been a little worried as to will it be sufficient for gaming. Will this ram do good with gaming being so old? It is 1600mhz and DDR3 after all.

AMD FX-8320
MSI 970A-G43
XFX Radeon R9 270x

1600 DDR3 is fine, it has 9-9-9-24 timings so all good. You wouldn't notice any difference with faster memory in normal use.

No, seriously, RAM doesn't expire like bread or anything. As long as it doesn't brick on you, it should be fine.

The only I'd be concern with is the amount you have in particular. 4GB is pretty much the minimum for gaming nowadays, and using two different kits isn't idea either.

As long as you've got them, give 'em a try, will give you 8GB if they play together, if you have troubles getting them to play nice, give me a shout, DRAM is sort of a specialty of mine 😉
