I am building my computer and I am looking at the G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB (8x2) RAM, but is it compatible and would it to fit with my CPU cooler? Also will it be fast enough for gaming and video rendering? Thanks:)

Solution

Yes its compatible with the Asus Maximus. PC3 17000 is DDR3 2133.

How do I know if the RAM is compatible with my motherboard?

all you have posted is compatible. Now your mobo supports DDR3 and your RAM is DDR3. your mobo supports DDR3 3000(OC)/2933(OC)/2800(OC)/2666(OC)/2600(OC)/2500(OC)/2400(OC)/2200(OC)/2133(OC)/2000(OC)/1866(OC)/1800(OC)/1600/1333 speeds and your RAM is DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000). So, its compatible

you check the motherboard's compatibility webpage. it should specifically list tested and working memory.

i have had multiple DDR2 sets of nice G.Skill memory in the past, 2 sets of Sniper DDR3 1600 \ 2133, and currently have a set of Ripjaws Z DDR3 2400. both Sniper sets have moved on to other gamer's systems and are still running great. my 2x 4GB Ripjaws Z is still running great @ 9-10-10-31. i would trust any G.Skill memory as pretty high quality.

Okay thanks! What is "PC3 17000"?" Is it compatible with the Asus Maximus VI Hero?
