I just need some opinions on this rig I am building and need to know if the price is right!

Technically $1360 but with the shipping it comes to 1400 including the taxes, $1199 before tax. Does anyone see any ways of switching out one part for a cheaper/better part for my buck? The i7 4770 and graphics card are about the only things I am sticking with 100%. This computer is for gaming/video editing. Nothing too extreme and I use 1 monitor.

Thoughts?

Basically this, also his build features a 4770K instead of your locked version, and features a reliable power supply.

Photonboy's build ($1404): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3EBvj

1) If you get an overclockable CPU make sure to get a motherboard that properly supports that.

Don't overclock right away until you've got the build working properly and tested.

2) Noctua cooler: This one is almost silent in normal conditions, and very quiet under load. Make sure to setup the fan control software (motherboard support site).

There are cheaper coolers, but they would be noisier. The included stock one is fairly noisy under load (for over $300 they should have a good cooler).

3) 16GB 1866Mhz CAS9 recommended:
- For video editing, 1600Mhz with the i7-4770K would actually bottleneck a bit so this is ideal.

4) Asus GTX770:
Awesome card.

5) Case: substitute if you wish, but make sure it supports ATX and USB3 front.

6) Windows: Windows 8.1 64-bit is standard now, but you may wish to download Start8 from Stardock for $5.

7) Samsung 840 EVO:
- after Windows is installed, download Samsung Magician to:
a) overprovision
b) update firmware of SSD
c) benchmark
d) set profile

8) Hard Drive:
- Install STEAM and other games here (not on the SSD as there's not enough space. It makes little difference anyway)
- backup Image of SSD once everything is installed (for WD drives, use the Acronis True Image Free software from WD's site)
- downloads, media files, etc..
