Is this SATA 3 to USB C external SSD performance normal?

Hi,

I recently purchased a Mushkin Reactor 1TB SSD and paired it with a TechOrbits USB type C to SATA 3 data cable connected to a 2016 15" MBP over USB type C, but the speeds I'm seeing are less than I expected.

For example, with Blackmagic Disk Speed test I'm getting around 385 Reads and 325 Writes while on UserBenchmark.com (http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Mushkin-Reactor-1TB/Rating/3583) others are averaging 490 Read and 400 Write and are even topping out in the 500's.

Could it be the TechOrbits cable that's the problem or something else as this drive seems to get good reviews?

Any insights or learnings from others is greatly appreciated.

It is possible that the enclosure uses a cheap USB3 chip that's onlt capable of delivering those speeds that you are getting.
But even then, is it not enough for what you are trying to do?
