First gaming pc and just want to ask if this will do the job on games like GTA V, the arkham trilogy (don't know about arkham knight), the elder scrolls online etc. Not too fussed about the quality I have to run the games at, just want reasonable fps.
Thank you.

this setup will be fine for moderate gaming you will be able to run most game like gta 5, far cry 4 and Bf4 on medium to high at 30-45 fps stable. the only thing that might hold you back is the i3 due to it being a duel core. If your planing just to play games on medium at 1080p you will be fine some games you will get 60 fps stable.

If you don't mind me asking, what would you say is the best (and cheapest) alternative for the i3?

yh there is the amd 860K if you want 4 cores or there's the Pentium g3258 which is better than the i3 it has overclocking both are around the same price i think the g3258 can be found for a bit cheaper. its a very good budget cpu

CPU boss is not a reliable source for CPU performance. The Pentium is a true dual core. Games are starting to require more than that. The i3's hyperthreading helps it considerably. Hence why the i3 is further up the list, than the Pentium, on the best gaming cpu for the money list.

ok well i have just lost all trust in cpu boss lol. in that case i guess i must say yh stay with the i3 i never released that that 4160 had hyper threading. i have seen so many reviews of the pentium g stating that it out does the i3 and a lot of amd cpus anyways back to the ops question the i3 is the way you want to go for best performance for your money.
