I'm new here at this site and the answers to other questions I've read seemed to have helped others out allot, so i have decided to give it a try. my question is whether or not this setup is good for video games such as Minecraft or Farcry 3, or dare I say battlefield 4. any and all helpful comments are greatly appreciated, and i thank you in advance.

you're spending too much money where you dont need it and not enough where you do.

no hard drive? no windows disk?

is $530 your absolute budget or can it be stretched?

honestly i'd probably go with an amd FX cpu and socket am3+ instead

a build like this with a 8320 and 270x is capable of pushing 36/42fps in ultra or 55/66fps on high in bf4 at 1080p. likely if you lower aa you can be playing on ultra settings without much issue.

a build like the earlier one with a x2 and gtx650 is below the 7770 in terms of performance so doesnt even appear on that list. you can kind of compare it using the bf3 benchamark below. my guess is that you would be running on medium settings.

if you wait you might be able to pick up some 2x4gb 1866 cas9 ram from gskill for like $68-70. this would save you a few dollars and net you something faster in the end (i just bought some a week ago). what i picked out isnt a bad buy though if you must buy now.

the case isnt pretty but it is decent airflow and has usb3. since its cheap it maximizes the money spent for parts that matter.

i would step up to the cx600m modular for $10 more if you are comfortable with that (if you can save some cash elsewhere on parts for instance).

i picked a 990x motherboard since there is no bios updating required to use fx chips and its a good overclocking board. if you are perfectly fine with doing a bios update on your own and dont plan on overclocking as heavy (though overclocking is still possible on the i70) then go with a 970 asus chipset motherboard and save about $25 to use for other components.

i did not put in a ssd as a boot drive since it would pull money away from the other components which would mean downgrading in certain areas. i wasnt sure if the increase in boot up speed would be worth swapping to a lower end cpu/mb/gpu.

if you can find some things on sale your options for parts may change slightly though what you have isnt a bad deal and except for the ram i dont see much else that will drop in price very often that isnt already included as on sale above.
