Is this system compatible, able to overclock, good and able to play modern games on high/ultra settings?

Is my system able to over clock, is it good, are the components compatiable and can it run modern games (like arma 2&3 bf4 crysis 3 dead space 3 batman arkham origin max payne 3 etc.) on high to ultra settings? Here is my system;
Intel i5 4670k
Gigabyte z87x-d3h
MSI GeForce GTX 770 Twin Frozr Gaming Edition Graphics Card - 2GB
16gb (2X8) crucial ballistix tactical RAM
seagate 3 tb hdd
samsung 840 120gb ssd
areo x-predator x3 evil gaming case
corsair cx 750w psu (if i down graded i would only save £3 so no point)
cooler master hyper 212 evo cpu cooler
Creative Audigy SE 7.1 channel audio

Also is there any point in buying a 7.1 sound card when you only ahve 5.1 speakers? does it make a difference or can 5.1 speakers only give 5.1 sound? also is it worth just £30 more (which i can spare) to get a 4gb version of the gtx 770 or doesn't it make much difference as the price isn't a problem. thanks

Your specs seem pretty good, although the weakest link here is your air cooler (if you really really are looking to seriously overclock then look at Noctua NH-U14S) but of course check it against your case to ensure you can fit it. Also you don't need a 7.1 audio card, your board can support process this very well as well (2/4/5.1/7.1-channel) you can save some money there.

#2 16GB is a bit overkill (you would save a good amount going at 8GB) unless you're doing some intense AUTOCAD or Photoshop.

#3 In addition what resolution are you looking to play also? 1080p 1440p? etc etc (this can factor as to if the video will do its job in doing so)

i will be playing at 1920x1080p on games like bf3 bf4 world of warcraft arma 3 arma 2 etc. Also should i just buy the 16gb ram straight up and then it will work together well or buy another 8gb later on (which i have been told isn't a great idea as it may not work well, even though it is the same type) or won't i ever need 16gb ram by the way i am not too fussed about the price but i need to know wether i will ever need 16gb ram to keep my high end gaming pc playing games on high settings fast whilst recording.

You memory would be Dual Channel (you will need two of the same) in this motherboard. 2x 4GB each for a full 8GB. You won't need 16GB as i mentioned unless you're doing some intense workload. ($40-60 you can end up saving)

Also 750W is a bit wayyy much for the components you have. According to this your rig would use about 423W a 600W PSU i feel is more than enough. Try the CX600 by Corsair (that could be another $30 saved)

Also that GTX 770 is a serious card (you certainly you get plenty out of that one)
