hello guys I am currently trying to upgrade my pc for the benefit of recording and gaming at the same time my pc goes as follows:

CPU: i3-8100
GPU: MSI GTX 1060 3GB
Motherboard: Gigabyte - B360M DS3H Micro ATX
RAM: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
PSU: Corsair - CXM 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

now I want to upgrade for recoding and gaming people told me my gpu is fine its the cpu that needs to change I looked at a i7-8700k will that be a better in performance and price than a Ryzen 5 2600 and a AM4 Motherboard

Solution
The ryzen 2600 is the best performer for the price currently. Yes the 8700k does perform better than the r2600.... But for quite a price mark up, not sure what's your budget.. so I can't give you direct advice.

That i3 will not do anything for you. But it is very much in price range of an r2600, in that sense.... It's a no brainer. The r2600 has really good performance and it's got 6 cores/12 threads. You need that multitasking as you're planning.

If price is of an issue, you can also explore r7 1700x these are quite close in price to the 2600 currently (depends on the sales), that would be much better than the 2600 for streaming. Maybe even check out r7 2700 priced decent as well.

No doubt the i7-8700 will be great. But you have to...

No doubt the i7-8700 will be great. But you have to have the money for it, and be able to justify price difference between ryzen.... At this time, ryzen is holding it's own very well and they are quite a good deal
