Is this system overkill for gaming + after effects use?

Thank you, I have a few questions for you buddy,

Do I really need a 144hz monitor? Is it really that important?
Do I need an i7K for gaming/after effects/recording?

Its not overkill.

I might've chosen a bit differently though -

I've only added that 144Hz monitor because it was in the link you provided, so I thought you wanted it, lol.Otherwise I'd have given you an IPS panel or something. But if you want everything to look very smooth, 144Hz is for you, but if you want higher graphics quality, then get IPS or higher resolution. i7 is more for editing and streaming, but if you are only going to do little to non of that, i5 would be best for you for mainly gaming.

I mainly play LoL and FIFA15 and some casual singleplayer. I use after effects for montages, I do little 3D work, but its all inside of after effects.

I know I'm asking for alot, but would you be able to build a PC from www.scan.co.uk only for about £1250, but keeping the gtx970 and 16gb ram.

Thank you guys! :)
