Hello!

I have an i7 4770K and an Asus Maximus Hero. I've overclocked the CPU to 4500. When running Aida64 stress test for 10 minutes, the system is stable, but I am noticing something odd about temperatures.

Aida reports the core temperatures go up to 94, 97, 95 and 89, while the CPU temperature maxes out at 70. Asus software says the CPU is at 66.

What should I believe and is this too hot? Should I bring the multiplier down?

Thank you kindly for your advice!

those temps arent good, sounds like theres an issue, id remove liquid cooler. take a micro-cloth remove the thermalpaste with 80% rubbing alcohol u can find at local cvs. than wait a few minutes than apply a pea size of thermalpaste and reinstall ur cooler sounds like ur cooler isnt well installed.

Did as you said. No change. I'm using Dynex Silver Termal Compound. Still in the upper 90s, the highest being 97.

Went down to 4400, ran the stress for 5 minutes, HWMonitor showed that I didn't quite cross in the upper 90s. The higherst temp was 94.

Interesting. While playing Guild Wars 2, it never goes above 72.

I got a Zalman LQ315, and at 4500 100% load the the maximum temperature peaked at 90 degrees, high 70 to low 80s being the most common.

Does this sound like something that I should be ok with?
