I've been searching for a new monitor and I cam across the Asus vg248qe. Is this the best monitor I can get for under $300? This monitor is for gaming and I currently have a GTX670. Will I be able to get any benefits from the 144hz?

Thank you.

Yeah that's probably the best choice for your budget (it has Displayport and DVI-D inputs, allowing older cards and newer cards to both be supported). Depending on the games you play you will see a large benefit. Many modern games you won't hit over 60FPS, but lighter weight games and older ones you will get 100+ FPS.

Even if you don't hit higher framerates, the blur reduction and faster response from a 144hz monitor is nice.

Should I use the display port or the dual link dvi?

Displayport is the better option of the two, but there is functionally no difference if you don't have Gsync or Freesync.

DVI is the older display output, DP is newer. However, both are equal in your situation.

Actually DVI is the easier one, with Display port you will have to fix the sRGB. But done that, and they are equal.
The Asus is cheap so you cannot go wrong, but it is not something very special; it has a grainy matte coating and low average gamma, so washed-out colors. I instead suggest the LG 24GM77. It has much better color presets and contrast, and on top of that it is slightly cheaper usually. The benefits of 144Hz and blur reduction are there, of course.
