Question Is this the right RAM for this build?

Good friend has begun gathering parts for a new build (see below), and one of the questions is if the choice of RAM is ok. He will be using it for video editing (premiere pro) and gaming. He will most probably only use the packaged overclocking utilities in Bios (PBO & SMP).

thanks.

Yes, those DIMMS will be fine. 2 x 16gb was the best choice there because with 4 DIMMS populated, it would reduce to speed to 2933mhz or even less, if dual ranked DIMMS were used.

It's a very solid build, and although it's not technically HEDT, it actually is!

I'm jealous of it's potential gaming prowess! Will be a beast at 1440p high hertz, and should be a monster for video editing.

I would go for DDR4-3600 with CL18. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-3000-best-memory-timings,6310-2.html Dual Rank will give a huge performance boost, which you would have with the DDR4-3200 but the CL in that build is 16 not 14 like they have in the review. For an extra $10 you can get this ram https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Dd...-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3600-memory-md4u163618beda

That's an interesting article. Going Dual rank with either 4 x SR, or 2 x DR is the way to go. The differences in speed alone are very little. At least AMD have finally gotten control over the IMC. Good spot jeremyj_83

I would either get the 3200 Mhz G.Skill kit you listed first OR a 3600 Mhz G.Skill kit.
I personally like G.Skill because I have been using their RAM for years without any major issues and I know they will replace my RAM if it fails.
And you are probably right, most people would Never be able to tell the difference between the 3200 and 3600 speeds.
The kits listed here were tested by G.Skill on the Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS so you know they will work:
