1780 3dmarks on 3Dmark03. My system is in my sig... Is it too low considering my system?

I would say so.

You're 1200+ points lower than me and my R9600Pro in a benchmark that doesn't focus so much on the rest of the system.

Check your settings in your control panel.

BTW, you double posted (if you delete the other it will go away).

Yeah it is mostly a gfx card dependent test, but the score would rise appreciably with a faster processor. My 3dmark2001 score improved 50% when I upgraded from a PIV 1.3ghz to a PIV 2.4c (and kept my gf3). Other than that, maybe your video drivers aren't up to date?

Sirak, just so you know TheGreatGrapeApe was saying its mainly a graphics card dependent score because BirdRobin is using 3DMark03 which supposedly relies far far more on just your graphics card compared to the older 3DMark2001 which based its score more so on the entire computer. That would explain why you noticed such a boost from a CPU upgrade in 3DMark2001.

Wow, long time delay between response.

Yes, AA, AF, and texture quality, vsync, etc.

If you take the top slider down to high performance, it should drop all the settings to ones that will give you better scores. But we compare scores around here usually with quality settings. The main thing is to ensure things like AA/AF are not on, and vsync off usually helps.

But your scores are low. Take a look at my catalyst comparison thread/review.

Those results are with an XP2000+ running at stock, slightly faster memory (it's DDR40, but it really only runs best at 333 [cause it's a KT400 not KT400A]). And my BBA R9600Pro is running at STOCK speeds in those test and yours is running at 480/340 (+80/+40) which would have a greated impact on 3Dmk03 (especially the graphics memory OC).

I doubt that 1400 points is because of slightly slower memory, cpu and HD. If this were 3Dmk01 ok, but 3Dmk03 is not so system dependant, between an XP200 and and XP3200 you would see about 400 point difference between an XP 2500 and an XP3200, and that would be mainly due to game test 1, and represent about a 5-10% diff in scores.
If you can post your results we could get a better idea of what's going on.

I don't have the full version only the trail version downloaded off iMesh, and my settings in my control panel is as follows.

AA/AF 4x/8x, All on Quality, VPU off, Fastwrites off, Apereture Size is 128mb. Vsync is at application prefrence. (let me know if u all need more info)

I cannot do any selections in my version of 3dmark03 and there is only one test i can run that is the default one at 1074x768.

Yeah the default for 3Dmk03 is 124x768 unless you buy or steal the pro/orb version. You should be able to post/submit 1 result. (It will record 4, and let you publish 1). Also when you start up, go into the system [details] and then [expand all]. That should give you a very good rundown of your system. BTW a hint about gigabyte's bios, in order to get at the high performance features often you need to press CTRL+F1 in order to expose some hidden feature. Just in case you decide to explore in their later to tweak your system further. Onto the control panel.

Turn the AA and AF to application preference (which will default it to off) my sliders by default show 4X AA and 2X AF, but they get greyed out when you tick application preference. AA/AF greatly affect benchmarks. I've never run a benchmark with AA/AF on, so I'm not sure if your drop in score is comensurate with that level of AA.AF, or if it doesn't affect the bench in this case, with a demo version of 3Dmark.

Switch vertical sync to Always OFF, and Truform to Always OFF, and texture and such to quality, not high quality.

Now beyond that it is something else, and then we may be in trouble (it becomes a question of little niggling things, like a missed item inthe BIOS, something running in the background, etc.

Ok I'll try to bench again with the settings u recommended, will post again the results.

Thanks for the gigabyte bios thingy. =D

Yo, i have benchmarked again with AA/AF at application pref, trufrom 'always off', vsync in 'always off', fastwrites off, VPU recover off, textures and such at 'Quality'. System stats/clock speeds see sig.

3593 3Dmarks03... << gained quite alot lol.

OK now since you're following my directions blindly... ...

Turn off your monitor, hold a coat hanger upside down in your felt hand while touching your northbridge heatsink, all the while wearing a Cross-your-heart bra on your head. Drinking Monster + Red Bull + Ballz + Jolt with a hint of mint and zest of lemon should give you another few points. 😎

Glad to hear you've had some positive results from your experiments. That's closer to where I'd expect you to go.
Still below me   , but damn respectable.
