The oldest dedicated GPU I have in use right now is 4.5 yrs old. A Gigabyte AMD 6670. Using it right now, watching a movie on the HTPC.

First off....whatever genius has infused your mind with ''using a GPU always ends up needing to use an oven"...forget that. Put that out of your mind, completely.

Second, don't stress. Just your your system. DO not worry about it dying, or the oven, or whatever.
Do parts die? Sometimes, yes.
How can you prevent? Don't abuse it.

Among all the PC's I have ever owned or used, since 1983, I have had exactly zero GPU's die.
None. Not one.

And has been powered on 24/7 almost the entire time.
It was uninstalled and off for a couple of months in the middle.

Not everyone chases the 'NewThing' every few months. That GPU does exactly what I need it to do. No need to change it.
